Press Operator/Production Operative

The role involves operating and minding a range of automatically fed power presses and other production equipment to manufacture ranges of small metal pressed parts produced from coils of metal strip.

Ensuring work is produced to specification and defects are spotted as soon as possible and isolated.

Power Press experience is preferred however any manufacturing/engineering experience will be considered.


·Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in your working area

·Follow all health and safety procedures

·Ensure quality control procedures are adhered to

·Follow company procedures

·Always look to improve production output, quality and processes

·Ensure all company procedures are followed

·Ensure all guarding and safety equipment is in place and used when needed

·Use personal protective equipment as required

·Report all health and safety equipment is in place and used when needed

·Operate presses, power presses of varying capacities and other equipment

·Load machines with raw materials

·Inspect components produced both visually and by comparing and measuring from drawing and specification sheets

·Maintain inspection records

·Booked components produced on to company MRP system

·Remove waste material and dispose

·Replenish coolant and oil machines as necessary

·Maintain records accurately before during and after production runs

·Clean down of machines after production run

·Carry out second operations and finishing operations and components produced

·Assist in other areas and help other members of staff required

Skills required:

·An excellent eye for detail

·Basic computer literacy

·Ability to work well under pressure

·Effective communication skills

·Motivated individual who is flexible and wiling to learn continuous best practice

·Ability to demonstrate initiative and positive attitude

·Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills

·Comfortable in being able to work alone and/or within a team environment, contributing and sharing best practices, resources and ideas in order to continually improve

·Have the ability to work to set standards and procedures
